Lawson Repeats as WHAC Player of the Week
Northwestern Ohio's Alysia Lawson has been named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second straight week and third this season. Lawson becomes the program's first ever back-to-back POTW honoree and just the third player to win the award three times in a single season.
Lawson helped her Racers go 2-0 last week with wins over Rochester, 88-78, and Cornerstone, 86-74. It is just the second win over Rochester in the program's history, first ever at home, and the first over Cornerstone since 2020.
Against the Warriors, Lawson scored 35 points, the program's most since 2013 and the fourth best single-game outing in program history. She followed with 30 more points against the Golden Eagles to average 32.5 for the week. Lawson finished the week 54% from the field and 40% from three-point range and is now averaging 29.8 PPG over the last four games while shooting 53% during that same stretch.
Lawson is averaging 22.5 per game with 383 total points scored this season, both ninth-best in the country.
