Lawson Picks Up Record-Setting Fourth POTW Award
Northwestern Ohio's Alysia Lawson was voted the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Player of the Week for the week ending February 4. It is Lawson's fourth POTW Award this season, the most by a single player in a season in program history, and her third in the last four weeks.
Lawson played all 80 minutes and averaged 33 points per game last week while leading her Racers to a 2-0 record with wins over Madonna, 83-64, and Lourdes, 61-53. She shot 46% from the field (22-48) and 48% from three-point (10-21) while hitting 12 of 12 free throw attempts for the week.
Against Madonna, Lawson became the all-time single game scoring leader with 43 points on 14 of 26 shooting (54%). Her 43 points is the most points ever scored by a UNOH basketball program topping the women's record of 38 that stood since 2010 (Amanda Francis) and the men's record of 41 that happened twice (Jake Bolyard - 2011, Lawrence Jackson - 2015). With 14 made field goals, Lawson tied for second in a single game while hitting on seven three-point attempts matching the program best. Lawson ended the week with 23 points at Lourdes giving her at least 20 in 15 of 21 games this season.
Lawson is second in the WHAC and seventh in the country in points per game averaging 22.9 this season.
UNOH is 6-1 in their last seven games with Lawson averaging 24.9 PPG in that stretch.
