Alysia Lawson Wins First Ever NAIA POTW for Women's Basketball

KANSAS CITY, MO - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has named Northwestern Ohio's Alysia Lawson as the NAIA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She was selected from a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees.

It is the first time that a member of UNOH Women's Basketball has won the award and just the second national player of the week for either basketball team (Lawrence Jackson - February 10, 2015). Lawson also becomes the first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) women's basketball player to pick up the honor since November 29, 2018 and the first men's or women's player since February 19, 2020.

Lawson earned the award after a historic performance against Madonna last week that saw her score the most points in any UNOH basketball game ever played (43) and matching the program record for three-pointers made (7). She finished the week with 23 points at Lourdes to average 33 points per game for the week. Lawson played every minute of both games while shooting 46% from the field and 48% from three-point.

Lawson is second in the WHAC this season averaging 22.9 points per game, putting her seventh in the country.
