DEARBORN, MI - UNOH women's basketball had to battle back from a 13-point first half deficit to survive on the road, 69-67, in an up and down game that saw twelve ties and eight lead changes.
UM-Dearborn ended the first quarter on a 13-3 run that put them up six after one. The Wolverines expanded that lead to 13 halfway through the second but the Racers outscored their hosts 18-6 heading into the locker room to cut the lead to just one, 36-35, at the break. The game ping-ponged back and forth in the third quarter with neither team taking more than a four-point lead, but UNOH held a slight advantage, 54-53 with ten minutes left to play. The final stanza looked similar to the prior with the Racers edging out the win down the stretch 69-67.
Alysia Lawson led all scorers with ther fifth 30+ point outing of the season. Lawson shot 8-18 from the field while knocking down eleven of twelve free throw attempts, a career best. Olivia Thompson and Lyric Scott both chipped in ten points in the game. Alycia Patterson led the team with eight assists and Alayha Allen finished with a team best seven boards.
UNOH will wrap up the 2023-24 campaign in The Garage on Saturday, February 24 against No. 19 Indiana Tech (24-3, 21-0).
