UNOH Sweeps WHAC Players of the Week

For the first time, UNOH women's basketball has swept both the offensive and defensive WHAC Player of the Week awards it was announced Monday. Alysia Lawson picked up her second straight offensive award with Alayha Allen earning her first ever player of the week honor on the defensive side.

Lawson continued her incredible start to the season averaging 27.3 points over three games while shooting almost 54% from the field and a remarkable 58% from three. She also knocked down 13 of 16 free throw attempts last week good for 81% from the charity stripe. Against Grace Christian, Lawson hit seven three-pointers, matching the program record, before scoring 39 against Miami-Middletown two days later for the program's second-best single game performance in school history (Lawson - 43). In the same game, Lawson swiped a career high eight steals, the program's second most in a game. She finished with 82 points, 13 assists, twelve rebounds, ten steals and a block for the week.

Alayha Allen joined Lawson this week thanks to her defensive dominance on the court. Allen tallied 22 rebounds, six blocks and five steals over three games while recording a double-double against Great Lakes Christian (15-12). Her two blocks against Miami-Middletown broke the program's career block record before she added three more against GLCC giving her 63 in just 33 games at UNOH (1.9 BPG). The previous record Allen topped had stood since 2011 and was set over 115 games (Molly French - 2007-11).

Lawson and Allen have helped their Racers to the best start in program history moving to 5-0 this year after going 3-0 last week.
