Newcomer of the Year Molly Douglas Headlines 2026 Women's Golf Honors
In conjunction with the 2026 WHAC Championship on Tuesday, the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has released the official women's golf all-conference honors for the 2026 season.
In his first season with the program, Head Coach Phil Gunder was named the WHAC Coach of the Year after leading his team to the program's seventh conference title in nine years. His team shaved almost 17 strokes off their team average from a year ago while defeating last year's champion (RV) Lawrence Tech in back-to-back tournaments.
Molly Douglas headlined the awards as the WHAC Newcomer of the Year and an All-WHAC First Team selection. Douglas won the individual medal at the conference championship marking the program's seveth in ten seasons and the third first place finish of her freshman campaign. She improved from 238 in the fall conference event to 228 in the spring championship to finish second overall in the final individual conference standings at 467. With steady improvement throughout the year, Douglas moved into the team's top spot with a 78.15 average earning four top five and seven top ten results in eight events played. Her leadership on and off the links also resulted in being the UNOH representative on the WHAC Champions of Character team.
Kudzai Mandava ended one stroke back from Douglas in the final standings to earn All-WHAC First Team honors. She carded a 231 in the fall and a 237 in the spring for a total of 468 over the two events. The team's other freshman, Luise Pekoll also had a strong finish to her first season tying for seventh overall at 477 which landed her an All-WHAC Second Team selection.
Junior Kayla Watkins picked up her second All-Academic mention and was joined by Mandava who landed on the list for the first time.
