Bio

Phil Gunder becomes just the third full-time head coach in the program’s history taking over from Interim Head Coach Scott Millsaps who led the team for the 2024-25 season.

Gunder brings a dynamic blend of leadership, passion and strategic insight to his new role with a strong background in sports management, education and community engagement. He is committed to building a program that emphasizes competitive excellence, academic achievement and personal growth. 

Gunder earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education as well as an M.B.A. from The University of Findlay and served as a teacher and coach for multiple years before taking his first Higher Education position at his Alma Mater in 2009. He joined UNOH in 2017 and is entering his ninth year as an assistant professor in the Sports Marketing & Management program.

Gunder carries a player-centered approach into his new role rooted in developing well-rounded student-athletes who excel on and off the course. With a deep understanding of the collegiate athletic landscape, he brings a new vision to the program that aligns with the University’s mission and values.
