Women's Soccer Rolls to 5-0 Win Over Bellevue

The Northwestern Ohio women's soccer team took a quick lead and never looked back in rolling to a 5-0 win over Bellevue Friday afternoon at Racer Stadium.

It took just 6:32 for the Racers to dent the scoreboard as midfielder Bogca Horvath (SO/Budapest, Hungary) drilled a shot from 25 yards out for her first goal of the season. Midfielder Laura Condon (FR/Le Bez, France) was credited with the assist, the first in her collegiate career.

UNOH extended the lead to 2-0 just before halftime as forward Camilla Andersen (JR/Horsens, Denmark) tallied the first of her two goals for the match at the 40:35 mark, connecting on a short shot on the left side of the goal. Midfielders Evdokia Popadinova (SO/Hadzhidimovo, Bulgaria) and Rikke Sevecke (FR/Nykobing, Denmark) each picked up an assist on the goal, the first of the year for Popadinova and second for Sevecke.

Popadinova pushed the margin to 3-0 early in the second half at the 48:58 mark as she recorded her second goal of the season off a deflection, with midfielder Julie Cazanave (SO/Lucq de Bearn, France ) earning the assist, and Andersen followed with her second goal of the contest and of the season at the 66:54 mark to make it 4-0. Cazanave also assisted on the Andersen goal, which came off a direct shot after a pass from the left side.

Midfielder Anna Fisker (FR/Hadsund, Denmark) rounded out the scoring with her first collegiate goal as she scored off a corner kick by Horvath. Horvath and Sevecke were credited with assists, Horvath's first of the year and Sevecke second of the match and third of the season.

While the offense was going strong with the five goals and 22 shots, the Racer defense was solid as well in earning its second shutout in as many matches, holding the Bruins to just five shots.

UNOH (2-0) heads to California for a pair of matches next week against ranked opponents, facing #11 Westmont on Tuesday, August 29, at 7:00 Eastern and #3 Vanguard on Thursday, August 31, at 7:30 Lima time. The next home contest is on Saturday, September 16, at 2:00 against Olivet Nazarene at Racer Stadium.
