Women's Soccer Dominates Rochester
The Northwestern Ohio women's soccer team outshot Rochester 42-0 as, behind a hat trick by Evdokia Popadinova (SO/Hadzhidimovo, Bulgaria), the Racers went on to a 6-0 victory over the Warriors in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at Racer Stadium.
It took nearly 21 minutes to UNOH to score, but the next 10 minutes featured three goals, starting with a Popadinova goal at the 20:58 mark on an assist from Bogca Horvath (SO/Budapest, Hungary), her fourth of the season.
Horvath extended the lead to 2-0 with her second goal of the year at the 22:19 mark and Popadinova struck again at the 30:33 mark to give Northwestern Ohio a 3-0 halftime lead. Robyn Moodaly (SR/East London, South Africa) provided the assist, her fourth of the season.
UNOH posted 23 shots in the first half and had three corner kicks.
Rikke Sevecke (FR/Nykobing, Denmark)'s second goal of the year opened the second-half scoring at the 51:23 mark and the margin increased to 5-0 less than two minutes later with Popadinova's third goal of the contest and 10th of the season. Laura Condon (FR/Le Bez, France) was credited with the assist on both goals, giving her five on the year.
Popadinova's hat trick is the second by the Racers this season as Camilla Andersen (JR/Horsens, Denmark) had three goals against Olivet Nazarene on September 16.
Kate Agyemang (FR/Kumasi, Ghana) rounded out the scoring with her second goal of the year at the 77:05 mark as Marie Adram (SR/Elancourt, France) recorded her third assist of the season.
The 42 shots for the match are a new school record, eclipsing the 41 shots taken at Lourdes on October 15, 2016. Defensively, Northwestern Ohio posted its sixth shutout of the season.
UNOH (8-1-1, 3-0 WHAC) hits the road for its next three matches, starting on Tuesday, October 3, with a 7:00 contest at UM-Dearborn.
