UNOH Reserve Women's Soccer Draws Opener Against Tiffin

LIMA, OH - The UNOH women's soccer reserve team opened the fall season with a 2-2 draw against Tiffin University at Racer Stadium on Tuesday, September 5.

The two defenses made life difficult for the forwards on both sides, resulting in limited scoring opportunities. In the 13th minute, UNOH earned a corner kick. Andrea Gonzalez stepped up to take the kick, delivering the ball into the six-yard box where Allyson Barger located it after a deflection off a Tiffin defender and slotted it into the lower right corner of the net. The UNOH defense managed to keep the Tiffin offense of their goal, allowing the Dragons only three shots in the first half with none finding the frame.

The second half began with a similar scenario. UNOH increased their lead to 2-0 in the 56th minute when Allyson Barger took the corner kick herself, placing the ball at the front post, where Olivia Barsan merely had to tap it into the goal.

However, the conditions were challenging with temperatures in the 90's. The Dragons mounted a comeback despite the soaring temperatures. In the 61st minute, the Dragons took a shot from outside the box, sending the ball over the UNOH goalkeeper and into the net reducing UNOH's lead to a 2-1.

With eight minutes remaining, Tiffin stunned the Racers when they unleashed a remarkable strike from the edge of the penalty area, sending the ball into the upper left corner of the goal. Thus, the game was tied again at 2-2, to which neither team could add anything in the following 8 minutes.

The UNOH JV Woman's Soccer team will be on the road next week, facing the reserve women's soccer team of Marian. The game is scheduled for September 13th at 2:00 PM at St. Vincent Field, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
