No. 4 Aquinas Steals Win from UNOH on PK

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - UNOH women's soccer pushed one of the nation's top teams to the brink on Saturday, but the No. 4 Aquinas Saints stole the day and stayed unbeaten with a late penalty kick goal.

Despite opportunities on both ends, neither team could get the best of two of the WHAC's top keepers in the first half sending the match scoreless into halftime. That trend continued into the second half but it was a late Racer foul in the box that finally broke the deadlock in the 81st minute.

The converted penalty kick was the only difference in the game with the Saints putting seven of 13 shots on goal and UNOH hitting the target six times of 13. Vivian Purmonen led the team with four total shots and two on goal while Mathilda Berg Karlsson put both of her attempts on target.

Sophia Eisner (5-3-2) took the tough loss after making six saves over 90 minutes.

The Racers will look to rebound on the road with a night game Wednesday at UM-Dearborn.
