Women's Tennis Wins First Regular Season Crown Since 2019
GRAND RAPIDS, MI - UNOH women's tennis wrapped up an undefeated conference campaign with a 7-0 win over Aquinas on Sunday to earn their first regular season title since 2019.
Munisa Ashurbekova and Ana Cetina won No. 1 doubles 6-1 with Alizee Ripolles and Neo Mafuyeka taking No. 2 doubles 6-1 and Veronika Kovalchuk topping No. 3 doubles 6-4.
Ripolles handled No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-3 and Ashurbekova only surrendered one point in a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 2 position. Ana Cetina and Veronika Kovalchuk won No. 3 and No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively. No. 5 and No. 6 singles were tight but Maggie Barnett won through 7-6, 6-2 and Abigail Beck edged out her matchup up 4-6, 6-4, 12-10.
UNOH will carry the No. 1 seed into the 2023-24 Women's Tennis Tournament that begins with the Opening Round play-in matches on April 22 followed by quarter and semifinals April 24 and concluding with the Championship April 25 at Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.
