Karlsson Named Mercy Health Athlete of the Month

LIMA, OH - Each month, UNOH teams up with Mercy Health to award an Athlete of the Month based on their athletic and academic performance as well as being a positive representative for UNOH and UNOH Athletics. Each month's winner will be presented with a T-Shirt and a $25 gift certificate from Lock 16 Steakhouse. Nominees are presented by their respective coaches and voted on by the UNOH Athletic Training staff and Athletic Administration.

The October edition of the award has been given to Mathilda Berg Karlsson of women's soccer who led her team to an perfect record over the month and the program's first regular season championship since 2019. Karlsson's Racers went 8-0 and outscored their opponents 39-5 to finish on top of the WHAC. The month was highlighted by a four goal, four assist performance by Karlsson against Indiana Tech setting a new program record with twelve points on the day. She bagged conference and national Player of the Week honors for her efforts becoming the first Racer to tally double-digit goals and assists in a season since 2019. Eight was the sophomore's lucky number in October as she scored eight times and assisted eight times over the team's eight games to earn WHAC Offensive Player of the Year honors.
