CIRCLEVILLE, OH - In a game that was never more than two possessions, UNOH (4-8) needed an extra period to earn a 85-82 win over Ohio Christian (4-7).
Each team held six-point leads in the first half but UNOH led by just two at halftime. Again, UNOH went up by six points in the second half but it didn't last long as the teams continued to trade leads. The game was tied at 75 with 82 seconds remaining, but the offenses went cold and the score held forcing overtime. The Racers finally took the lead for good when Trevon Wells (JR/Cleveland, Ohio) knocked down a long-range dagger with 1:03 left. Biggz Johnson (SO/Lima, Ohio) threw the knockout blow draining from outside with just 19 seconds to play, putting UNOH up five. The Trailblazers managed to nail a shot at the buzzer but it didn't effect the outcome as UNOH took the win by three.
Trevon Wells followed up his career high outing on Saturday with a new career and game high 24 points. Wells was 9-11 (82%) from the field, 2-3 from outside and hit four of five free throws. Biggz Johnson recorded 18 points and seven rebounds going 7-16 (44%) from the field and 2-3 from long range. Mohamad Kraidly (JR/Beirut, Lebanon) added 16 points shooting 7-13 (54%) in the game.
The Racers shot 51% as a team and 46% on 3-pointers while out rebounding Ohio Christian 36-32.
UNOH will return hom to take on Taylor on Friday night, December 16, with a 7:00 PM tipoff.
