Men's Basketball Swipes Win at Concordia

ANN ARBOR, MI - UNOH used a big run at the end of the first half to take control of their matchup against Concordia on Saturday, rolling through the Cardinals, 74-57. The Racers have now won four of their last five games and improve to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play, the program's best start for both since the 2016-2017 season (Chris Adams: 9-3, 5-1).

The Racers didn't take their first lead of the game until there was just 2:21 remaining in the first half, but it came in the middle of a massive 14-0 run to finish off the half that took UNOH from being down four to up ten, 36-26, at the break. With a nine point lead and 18 minutes to play, a 12-3 stretch over the next four minutes blew the game open for UNOH, 50-32. The Racers expanded the lead to as many as 20 as they held off any comeback attempt that Concordia could put together to finish off the win.

Ryan Archey led all scoring with 27 points, his third straight 20+ performance and seventh of the season. Archey hit 10-19 (53%) attempts from the field while knocking down seven of twelve three point chances (58%), matching his career high set earlier this season. Jayden Sims continued his strong return to the team scoring 14 off the bench, this third double-digit outing in four games played. Antonio King finished one point and one rebound short of a double-double but his nine boards led all rebounders in the game.

The teams were almost even from the field with UNOH shooting 44% to 43% for Concordia but the Racers bagged a season high 14 three-pointers matching the program's best of the Westerlund Era. UNOH was held without a free throw attempt for the entirety of the game, the first time in the history of the program, but the Cardinals struggled on their own chances hitting just 41% from the line.

UNOH will finish off the 2024 half of the schedule with a home game against Siena Heights on Wednesday, December 18 before ending the year with a non-conference showdown against Taylor.
