FORT WAYNE, IN - UNOH (14-2-4) and Indiana Tech (12-2-5) needed 130 minutes to decide a winner and it was the Warriors advancing to the WHAC Championship with a 3-2 win over the Racers.
The Warriors cracked the scoreboard first in the 18th minute and that one goal lead held into halftime. The Racers answered in the 58th minute with Simon Von Benzon (FR/Denmark) finding the back of the net. Despite attack after attack, neither team could find the game winner in regulation and the game held 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Indiana Tech broke the deadlock in the 102nd minute and added another just two minutes later to take a decisive 3-1 lead. UNOH found a goal from Gonzalo La Chica (SO/Malaga, Spain) in the 106th mintute to make it a 3-2 match at the overtime break. Chances were hard to come by in the second overtime frame and the Warriors held on for the win.
UNOH led in shots 19-11 and shots on goal 10-7 with the two teams combining for 42 fouls, 12 yellow cards and a red.
The Racers await their fate in the NAIA tournament selection show on Monday, November 14, hoping to garner an at-large bid.
