UNOH Sweeps WHAC Weekly Men's Soccer Awards
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced Monday that two members of the UNOH men's soccer program have swept the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Awards. Michel Tentchou was named the Offensive winner while Aimar Lezana earned Defensive honors, both picking up the weekly award for the first time in their careers. It is just the second time in program history that the Racers have swept both awards in the same week and the first since November 5, 2013 (Peguy Ngatcha | Liam Davies).
Tentchou was voted Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals and assisting once in two games last week. He assisted on the second goal of the day and scored the first of the second half in a 7-0 drubbing of Cleary on Wednesday. Tentchou followed up with his first career hat trick against Aquinas on Saturday scoring all three goals in the first half of a 4-0 shutout. He currently leads the team and is tied for the conference lead with eight goals and 17 points this season.
Lezana was voted the Defensive Player of the Week after helping his backline earn two more shutouts while allowing just five total shots over the two matches. He also assisted once in each game and scored a goal against Cleary giving him eleven total points this season.
The two players have been instrumental to the team's success going unbeaten in September with a 6-0-1 record. During that stretch, the Racers have allowed just 4.4 shots on goal per game while outscoring their opponents 28-7. On the offensive side, both have played a pivitol role in the team scoring 33 goals in ten games this season after netting 35 times during the entirety of 2024.
UNOH also boasts it's most dominant start to conference play in program history with a +18-goal differential over the first three WHAC games. Outscoring those teams 20-2, it is the program's best three-game stretch since 2017.
