LIMA, OH - UNOH (2-2, 1-1) clashed with Cornerstone (2-4, 2-0), erasing a 17 point lead but came up short in a 77-68 loss.
The score was never more than two possessions as the teams battled to take control in the first quarter, with UNOH holding a 18-16 lead after one. That trend continued into the second with the Golden Eagles scoring the final four points to take a 36-32 lead into halftime.
Cornerstone came out of the break on fire using a 21-4 run, spanning the second and third quarters, to take control of an evenly matched game and enter the final stanza with a comfortable 14-point lead. After the Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the game at 17 points, UNOH used a 19-4 run in less than five minutes of game time to make it 70-68 with 3:44 left to play. After a Cornerstone timeout, the Golden Eagles managed to keep the Racers' offense off the board for the rest of the game.
Jada Haines (SR/Akron, Ohio) collected a game high 30 points while shooting 63% (10 - 16) from the field. Haines added five assists, four rebounds, and two steals in the game. Kalea Kruser (SR/Madison, Wisconsin) was the only other Racer scoring double-figures finishing with 13 points and six rebounds shooting 86% from the field.
As a team, the Racers outperformed Cornerstone shooting 50% in the game while holding the Golden Eagles to 48%. As part of their comeback effort in the fourth, UNOH shot a season high 77% from the field.
