Women's Basketball: Racers Edge Out Cardinals 70-68

LIMA, OH - UNOH (9-9, 5-7) had to come from behind against Concordia (11-8, 8-5) to pull out a 70-68 win at home.

The Racers didn't take their first lead of the game until halfway through the second quarter as they rode a 17-7 run to what would be their largest lead of the game 36-29. The Cardinals scored the last four points of the half and UNOH held a 36-33 lead into the locker room. Concordia continued their run into the third quarter and finished with a five-point lead after outscoring the Racers 14-2. The Cardinals continued to control the quarter but a late three cut the lead to 53-51 heading into the final frame. Concordia took their largest lead of the game 68-62 with 3:14 to play, but UNOH locked down defensively and Jada Haines (SR/Akron, Ohio) took over offensively scoring the final eleven points including two game-winning free throws with one second left.

Haines led all scorers with 29 points, her most since November 22 (30), adding a season high six assists. Kalea Kruser (SR/Madison, Wisconsin) recorded her second double-double in the last three games grabbing ten boards with a season high 14 points. Mar Marata Crespo (SR/Girona, Spain) matched her season high with 13 points adding five rebounds and two steals.

With the win, UNOH snaps a five-game losing skid and will look to carry that momentum onto Fred Smith Court Saturday, January 21, when they face off with (RV) Siena Heights at 5:30 PM.
