LIMA, OH - UNOH (12-11, 7-9) avenged a one-point road loss in their first meeting with UM-Dearborn (6-18, 3-13) by running away with the home matchup to an 86-65 win. The win is number seven in league play for the Racers, the program's highest mark since 2016-17.
Both offenses started hot racking up 40 total points in the first quarter while combining to shoot 48% from the field. Statistically, the two teams were almost identical as the second frame opened locked at 20. The trend continued for another five minutes of game time with the Racers holding a slim 34-33 lead. UNOH rattled off eight straight to go up nine before the Wolverines scored the final four points of the quarter. While the first meeting finished 55-54, round two was a much different story with the Racers up 42-37 at halftime.
UM-Dearborn cut the lead to two out of the break, but an 11-0 run for UNOH blew the game open with 3:26 left in the third. The run continued with the Racers outscoring the Wolverines 20-5 down the stretch and a comfortable 64-47 heading into the final frame. The lead was more than 20 for most of the quarter as UNOH got their revenge with a 21-point win over UM-Dearborn.
Jada Haines (SR/Akron, Ohio) paced the way with a game high 28 points. Haines shot 56% from the field and 45% from outside while grabbing six rebounds with four assists. Ana Montero Sanz (SO/Madrid, Spain) recorded her second 20+ outing of the week putting up 21 points with a game-high seven assists and six boards. Alysia Lawson (FR/Toledo, Ohio) added 18 points and seven rebounds in the game. Kalea Kruser (SR/Madison, Wisconsin) pulled down a game-high eleven boards and Mar Marata Crespo (SR/Girona, Spain) added nine.
UNOH shot 49% as a team, their highest since November 22 (60%), while earning 20 assists, the program's most since February 5, 2020 (Cornerstone - 20).
After winning three-straight for the third time this season, UNOH will try to make it four for the first time since 2015 when they host Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, February 8. 5:30 Tip-off.
