LANSING, MI - UNOH women's basketball picked up their fifth straight win to start the season Saturday improving to 5-0, the best start in program history, with an 83-67 win over Great Lakes Christian.
The game played tight in the first with the Racers edging out a two-point advantage, 25-23. UNOH shut down the Crusaders in the second outscoring them 22-11 to take a 13-point lead into halftime. That lead was pushed to 23 in the third as the Racers held their cushion through the final stanza to win the night.
Sisters Jayci Allen and Alayha Allen both recorded a double-double in the game. J. Allen led all scorers with 24 points and ten rebounds while A. Allen scored 15 and grabbed a game high twelve boards. Alysia Lawson added 18 in the game with six assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block. Alycia Patterson fell just short of a triple-double bagging twelve points with nine rebounds and eight assists.
UNOH shot 44% from the field holding Great Lakes Christian to 35% while grabbing 49 rebounds to 37 for the Crusaders.
The Racers will try to keep their historic start rolling on Wednesday, November 13 when they host Grace Christian at 5:30 PM.
