UNOH Opens WHAC with Win at Defiance

DEFIANCE, OH - UNOH women's basketball began the conference season on the road with the program's first ever win at Defiance, 85-63.

The WHAC's top scoring offense struggled early needing more than ten minutes to break double-figures and holding a slight 19-14 advantage after the first quarter. The Racers started to find their momentum in the second rattling off a 13-3 run to end the half and take a 17-point lead into the break. UNOH held that cushion through the third ballooning their lead up to 29 in the fourth, coasting to an easy 22-point victory.

Alysia Lawson led all scorers with 31 points, her third 30+ outing of the season, hitting a career high twelve of 13 free throw attempts in the game. Jayci Allen ended the night with 14 points and ten rebounds, her third double-double of the year, and Ameena Muhammad finished with twelve.

The Racers shot a season high 86% from the charity stripe turning 24 turnovers into 29 points while dominating the Yellow Jackets on the glass 43-26.

UNOH will play their second of four road games Friday night when they make the trip to Aquinas to face the Saints at 4:00 PM.
