Women's Basketball Receives Votes in NAIA Coaches Poll
KANSAS CITY, MO - For the first time in more than a decade, UNOH women's basketball has received votes in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll released Wednesday, December 11. In the first five years of the program's existence, UNOH landed in the receiving votes category six times but the most recent poll marks it's first since January 10, 2012.
The Racers have been off to a blazing start in the 2024-25 campaign sitting at 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), both the best starts in program history. They boast a top ten scoring offense in the country averaging 86 points per game fueled in large part by Alysia Lawson who is second overall in scoring average with 26.9 points per game. UNOH has seen significant contribution up and down the roster with nine different players scoring double figures this season as the team has bagged 112 made three-pointers, fourth in the country, shooting 44% from the field putting them second in the conference.
Ana Montero Sanz leads the team with 66 assists, fourth best in the NAIA, while Alayha Allen sits eighth overall with 23 blocks as well as setting the program's career block record (76) this season. Jayci Allen is averaging 13.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game leading the Racers with 103 total rebounds, 21st in the nation.
UNOH will look to continue their historic run with a trip to Concordia on Saturday, December 14 before wrapping up the 2024 portion of the season against Siena Heights on Wednesday, December 18.
