Aquinas Takes Down UNOH 74-65

LIMA, OH - The WHAC's second-place team proved too much for UNOH Saturday afternoon as Aquinas pushed through to take down the Racers in the Garage, 74-65.

UNOH opened the day with the game's first ten points but the Saints roared back to outscore the Racers 13-2 over the final six minutes of the first quarter. The first six points of the second belonged to Aquinas to go up 19-12 but UNOH fought back to go back up 27-26 with under a minute left in the first half. After the Racers missed a shot that would've put them up three at the break, the Saints managed to steal the momentum with the final shot to hold a 28-27 lead heading into the locker room.

That momentum proved decisive as Aquinas carried it into the third with the first nine points to push their lead up to double-digits. UNOH had to battle from behind and managed to shave the lead back to just five heading into the final frame thanks to an 8-2 run that ended the quarter. The Saints produced a steady flow of offense down the stretch, going up by as many as 17 points, but the Racers made one final late push. A 15-5 run closed the gap to just seven, but UNOH ran out of time to finish the comeback.

Alysia Lawson led all scorers with 27 points on 12-28 (43%) shooting adding three steals, two rebounds and a blocked shot. Jayci Allen recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and a career high 18 points hitting 6-14 (43%) from the field.

UNOH will finish up a four-game home stand against Madonna one Wednesday, February 5.
