LIMA, OH - A slow start for UNOH combined with hot shooting early for Concordia proved too much to overcome as the Racers trailed wire-to-wire in a 73-66 loss.
Concordia was sharp out of the gate hitting nine of their first ten attempts, including 3-3 from three-point, while the Racers started the night 2-7. Those two factors combined to give the Cardinals an early 18-7 lead halfway through the first that they would never reliquish. It was a massive opening quarter for Concordia as they went into the second with a 30-14 lead. UNOH held them to just ten in quarter two but could only manage 13 of their own to trail 40-27 at the break. The Racers held a two-point advantage in the third but entered the final period still trailing by double-digits. Finally the game started to lean in the favor of UNOH as they rattled off a 14-2 run to pull with two, 63-61, with three minutes left to play. The game stayed tight the remainder of the game but Concordia did enough to keep the Racers from finishing off the comeback down the stretch holding on for a seven-point win in The Garage.
Alysia Lawson set the single season scoring record (Jada Haines - 624) with a team high 18 points giving her 631 this season. Lawson, however, had a tough shooting night going just 5-15 (33%) from the field and 1-5 (20%) from outside. Seven of her points came from the charity stripe where she finished 7-9 in the game. Danajah Peterson scored a season high 13 points off the bench in just 17 minutes of game time shooting 5-7 from the field and a perfect 3-3 from long range while pulling down five rebounds. Jayci Allen finished the game with eleven points and 13 rebounds giving her back-to-back double-doubles this week.
Still chasing history, UNOH will try to set the season wins record on road next week when they travel to Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, February 19 followed by a trip to Siena Heights to end the regular season on Saturday.
