LIMA, OH - UNOH women's basketball took their first setback of the season Wednesday night falling at home to No. 23 Indiana Tech, 80-59, in the conference opener.
The Warriors led wire-to-wire after jumping out to an early 10-1 lead. The Racers managed to get within two in the first but Indiana Tech ended the frame on a 6-0 run to lead 20-12 entering the second. The lead stayed around ten points most of the quarter but again the Warriors finished strong heading into halftime on a 7-2 run to push the lead up to 17. The second half played much tighter but Indiana Tech was able to keep UNOH at arms length to hand them their first loss of the season.
The Warriors outshot the Racers 53% to 38% but the biggest different came in the turnover category as UNOH coughed the ball up 18 times translating to 19 points while forcing just nine and scoring six.
Alysia Lawson and Sanaiiya Gray both scored 15 to lead the team with Brooke Asher chipping in 13. Lori Huffman added eight, Jordan Mueller finished with five and Olivia Thompson rounded out the scoring with four.
UNOH will now hit the road for the first time this season with back-to-back conference matchups. The Racers head to Rochester Christian Saturday, November 22 followed by a Tuesday night contest at Madonna.
