LIMA, OH - UNOH volleyball (8-9, 1-4) earned a 3-set sweep 25-23, 25-22, 25-17 over Aquinas (5-13, 2-3) in The Garage on Friday, September 23. It's the Racers' first home win over Aquinas in seven years to-the-day and the program's first Saints sweep since September 24, 2014.
Abigail Martin (FR/Goshen, Indiana) led all players with a career high 19 points in the match. Martin tallied ten kills with just one error on 20 attacks for a career high .450 hitting percentage. She also recorded seven service aces, the program's second most in three sets, with two solo blocks. Logan Thomas (SO/Johnstown, Ohio) hit .400 in the match with eleven kills on 20 swings and only three errors. Taylor Reust (JR/Huntington, Indiana) was also on point earning a .667 hitting percentage with six kills on nine attacks and no errors. Casey Kingsland (SO/Blanchester, Ohio) put up 16 assists while Savanna Reed (FR/Columbia City, Indiana) added 13. Abigail Martin was the team leader in digs with six in the match.
"It's great to finally be heathly," said Head Coach Josh Kreiner following the match. "The outsides balled out and we played under control as a team. That's why we won tonight in a great home atmosphere."
UNOH finished with 35 kills to 26 for Aquinas while recording 15 service aces as a team, matching the team record in a 3-set match. The Racers have 150 aces in the bag this season, tops in the league and 5th most in the country.
"It feels great to get a conference win," said Kreiner. "I'm proud of our kids for battling back after being down in the first two sets and pulling out wins. We have a short turnaround now and we're going to need to play together to beat a ranked Cornerstone team tomorrow."
The Racers and the Golden Eagles will square off at 1:00 PM on Saturday in The Garage.
