Volleyball: Racers Overpower Cardinals in Five

LIMA, OH - In their third home match in four days, UNOH (11-14, 4-9) earned a hard fought win over Concordia (10-15, 5-8) in five sets 25-13, 27-29, 25-18, 21-25, 15-12.

A season high five Racers recorded double-digit performances in the win. Elli Roetgerman (FR/New Bremen, Ohio)'s 20.5 points led all players with her second 20+ kill match of the week. Abigail Martin (FR/Goshen, Indiana) had a career day with 14.5 points picking up nine kills with career high block assists (5) and service aces (3) while matching her career high in digs (15). Hope Fetherolf (JR/London, Ohio) hit .429 in the match with eleven kills off 21 attacks and only two errors. Fetherolf added three block assists and a service ace for 13.5 points. Taylor Reust (JR/Huntington, Indiana) also had an effecient afternoon recording 13 points with nine kills and only one error on 21 swings (.381). Reust added four block assists and two service aces in the match. Logan Thomas (SO/Johnstown, Ohio) finished with 12.5 points with eleven kills, a solo block and a block assist.

Savanna Reed (FR/Columbia City, Indiana) and Casey Kingsland (SO/Blanchester, Ohio) each tallied 26 assists matching season highs for both players. Reed and Kingsland each showed their versitility in other ways, as well. Reed hit a career high .385 (5-0-13) with seven digs while Kingsland recorded three service aces and five digs. Aubree Ricketts (JR/Plainfield, Illinois) finished a team high 24 digs and Logan Thomas had 16 to go along with Abigail Martin's 15.

"Coming off an underwhelming performance [Friday] night we responded in a big way today," said head coach Josh Kreiner. "We've been preaching to 'play loose and have fun' and I thought the team took that to heart today."

UNOH scored 93 of their 113 points with 70 kills and 62 assists, all team highs under third-year head coach Josh Kreiner. The Racers also racked up 15 aces in the match, giving them 214 on the season, the fifth most in the country. UNOH hit .204 as a team, their highest since September 3 against Montreat (.288).

"We're a young team with a lot of potential," Kreiner continued. "I know we can play with anyone, we just have to put together some consistency on the floor and play at a high level every night. We did that today at the end of a long week and I'm really proud of the fight I saw. If we continue to improve each time out, we'll end up where we need to be."

UNOH is off Wednesday before heading to Grand Rapids to take on undefeated, league leader #22 Cornerstone on Friday, October 21.
