Racers Lose Tight Battle at Concordia

ANN ARBOR, MI - In the first conference matchup of the season, UNOH pushed Concordia to the limit but couldn't get themselves on top falling 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23).

Gianna San Filippo continued her hot start to her first season with the team racking up 20 kills on 40 swings with just three errors (.425). San Filippo also added twelve block assists tying the program's most in any match and setting a new record in a four-setter. Her 26 points were a season best and she currently sits second in the WHAC in total kills (170) and first in blocks per set (1.25). Bailey Gregory continues to lead the conference in digs and digs per set adding 22 on the night while Riley Treece (17), Savanna Reed (17) and Alli Lopez (13) all set new season marks in the same category.

As a team, UNOH tallied 31 block assists, the program's most in any match, for a season high 15.5 total blocks. The Racers also finished with a 86 total digs to mark a new season best.

This season, UNOH leads the the WHAC with 106 total blocks which is tied for the fourth most in the country. Their 176 block assists is the third best in the nation and their 823 team digs puts them fifth.

 

The Racers will have a week off before they head to Wilberforce for two non-conference matches. UNOH will take on NCAA DII Central State at 3:00 PM on September 11 before heading across the street to face Wilberforce at 6:00 PM.
