Martin Hits 1,000 Career Kills -- Racers Fall to (RV) Indiana Tech

LIMA, OH - UNOH volleyball fought hard with (RV) Indiana Tech Friday night but came up just short in straight sets 25-16, 25-19, 25-19.

The Racers led most of the early portions of set one keeping things tight halfway through at 12-12. Indiana Tech came alive after that and rattled off 13 of the final 17 points to take game one 25-16. UNOH again jumped out early in the second set and held the lead by as many as six points as the pushed the Warriors late into the game up 18-15. Indiana Tech again came alive at the end scoring ten of the last eleven points to steal the game 25-19. The Racers never led in the final set but hung around until the end facing just a two-point deficit at 15-13. A 6-1 run for Indiana Tech put space between the teams and it was enough to hold on 25-19 and take the night from UNOH 3-0.

Senior Abigail Martin marked a special occasion putting down five kills to push her over the 1,000 plateau and into the history books as just the fifth Racer to ever reach that milestone. The team was led offensively by Aliyah Saylor with 7.5 points on seven kills and one block assist. Emilija Prolic had another strong outing in the middle scoring six kills on 13 attacks and just one error. She hit .385 in the match and currently leads the team this season with a .165 hitting percentage. Shamyria DuBose also put down six kills and added one assisted block to her season total giving her a team best 31 this year.

Savanna Reed and Paige Hoodlebrink split 22 assists evenly with both earning six digs in the match. Riley Treece finished with a team high 17 digs followed by Alli Lopez with ten.

UNOH will be off until Wednesday, September 17 when host the third of three straight home games against Siena Heights at 7:00 PM.
