LIMA, OH - After 15-day holiday break, UNOH women's basketball couldn't shake off the rust falling at home to Rochester Christian, 91-84.
Both offenses were on display early but a tight first quarter was controlled by the Warriors, 23-21. The game slowed down slightly in the second but Rochester Christian continued to stay in front up 41-36 at halftime. UNOH finally got in front for the first time, 54-52, with five minutes remaining, but it was short-lived as the Warriors ended the quarter on a 14-4 run that put them up eight heading into the final frame. That run continued into the fourth scoring the first six points to take the largest lead of the game, 72-58, with 8:37 to play. The game hovered around that mark most of the quarter until the Racers scored six straight to end the game but ran out of time for a comeback.
Jayci Allen finished with a team high 23 points on 8-13 shooting, her 15th double-digit performance in 16 games, while pulling down a team high nine rebounds with four steals and two assists. Alysia Lawson scored 17 off the bench, her lowest output of the season, but was efficient from the field going 7-14 in the game. Olivia Thompson and Ana Montero Sanz both chipped twelve points each. Thompson did most of her work from the charity stripe hitting 6-8 for her third straight double-digit outing adding three steals, three assists, three rebounds and a block. Sanz went 6-9 from the field with four rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block.
The teams combined to shoot 53% from the field with Rochester Christian edging out UNOH 54% to 52%.
The Racers will try to snap their three-game losing skid when they host #23 Indiana Tech on Wednesday, January 4.
