LIMA, OH - UNOH was in control from start to finish, dictating pace and dominating possession en route to a 4-2 win over Lourdes at Racer Stadium.
The Racers struck first in the 16th minute with a short cross from Lorna Campos just outside the 18 that grazed the head of Anna Sjolte and found the foot Vivian Purmonen near the fall post. A foul about 20 yards out gave the Gray Wolves their first opportunity with a free kick that stayed low and found the bottom corner to even the match. Lourdes committed a foul of their own inside the penalty box in the 41st minute that gave up a penalty kick for the Racers. Ashley Wilson stepped up and capitalized with an unstoppable shot into the top corner.
With UNOH leading 2-1 to start the second half, the match remained tilted in their favor. Steady build up brought the ball into the left wing where Jasmin Tadina fed Alejandra Gomez Nogueras. Gomez sniped the keeper from 20 yards dropping the ball over her head and under the crossbar for a 3-1 lead. Just 24 seconds later, Ashley Wilson beat a defender off the dribble and rocketed the ball past the keeper for her second goal of the match. Lourdes managed to work one goal back in the 79th minute, but it would be far from enough and the Racers took the match 4-2.
UNOH racked up a season high 23 total shots while giving up a season low four.
Mireia Queralt (2-1-1) worked all 90 minutes making one save to pick up the win.
The Racers will stay home for their next match that will see UM-Dearborn visit Racer Stadium Saturday, September 30 at 1:00 PM.
