UNOH Completes Season Double with WHAC Tournament Title
LIMA, OH - For the first time since 2019, UNOH women's soccer has swept the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Regular Season and Tournament titles after taking down Aquinas 1-0 Wednesday afternoon to complete the season double. It is the program's fifth conference sweep all-time giving them the most among all existing programs at UNOH.
After 60 minutes of physical but scoreless play, a foul right at the midfield line set up a free kick opportunity for the Racers. With the wind at her back, Keira Ferns sent a missle into the box that made it over the crowd and took a clean hop. Ella Beaton-Hill came streaking in from the right and used her head to push the ball over the keeper and into the net for what would become her third game winner of the season.
The dogfight continued over the final 30 minutes but the single goal remained the difference as the final horn sounded giving UNOH their first home win over Aquinas since 2019. Most of the second half was controlled by the Racers putting three of seven shots on target while allowing just two for the Saints that both missed the mark.
Sophia Eisner (17-2-0) made two saves and joined with her defense to earn the team's eleventh clean sheet of the year and 28th of Eisner's career.
With the win, UNOH avenges their only conference loss of the year and improves to 17-3 overall. They now await their fate in the NAIA National Championship with the tournament field and host sites being announced in two days.
