Omarkhanov Wins Mercy Health Athlete of the Month

Each month, UNOH is teaming up with Mercy Health to award an Athlete of the Month based on their athletic and academic performance as well as being a positive representative for UNOH and UNOH Athletics. Each month's winner will be presented with a T-Shirt from Cappy's Sportswear and a $25 gift certificate from Lock 16 Steakhouse. Nominees are presented by their respective coaches and voted on by the UNOH Athletic Training staff and Athletic Administration.

For the month of February, Malik Omarkhanov of the men's tennis program has been awarded the Athlete of the Month. The Racers began the month at the 2024 ITA NAIA National Men's Team Indoor Championship where they fell in the semifinals to No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan, 4-3, but finished third overall with a 4-3 win over No. 5 Westcliff. UNOH then opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play with wins over Lourdes, 5-2, and Concordia, 7-0, before wrapping up the month with a 4-0 win over No. 17 Lindsey Wilson. 

Omarkhanov won all six of his complete singles matchups in February while going 4-2 in doubles. He is 16-4 overall in singles this season and 11-7 in doubles.
