Cabell Wins February Athlete of the Month
LIMA, OH - Each month, UNOH teams up with Mercy Health to award an Athlete of the Month based on their athletic and academic performance as well as being a positive representative for UNOH and UNOH Athletics. Each month's winner will be presented with a T-Shirt and a $25 gift certificate from Lock 16 Steakhouse. Nominees are presented by their respective coaches and voted on by the UNOH Athletic Training staff and Athletic Administration.
The February edition has been awarded to Zach Cabell of the baseball program who opened the season strong carrying a 2.59 ERA over his four appearances. His only loss of the month came in his season debut again No. 18 Johnson but Cabell put together back-to-back complete game wins after that with just two total runs over 14 innings on the bump. He was also honored as the WHAC Pitcher of the Week following each of those wins highlighted by a dominant one-hit performance against Culver-Stockton where he struck out nine and walked just one. His two weekly honors came in consecutive weeks making him the first Racer pitcher to ever accomplish that feat. Cabell fanned 27 batters over 24.1 innings in February averaging an incredible 10.08 per nine innings.
