Turner Named Mercy Health Athlete of the Month

LIMA, OH - Each month, UNOH teams up with Mercy Health to award an Athlete of the Month based on their athletic and academic performance as well as being a positive representative for UNOH and UNOH Athletics. Each month's winner will be presented with a T-Shirt from Cappy's Sportswear and a $25 gift certificate from Lock 16 Steakhouse. Nominees are presented by their respective coaches and voted on by the UNOH Athletic Training staff and Athletic Administration.

The final Athlete of the Month award of the 2023-24 year has been given to Luke Turner of men's golf for the month of May. Turner participated in the NAIA Men's Golf Championship May 21-22 as an individual after qualifying for the tournament with a first-place finish at the WHAC Men's Championship in April. As just the second individual qualifier in program history, Turner sat in a tie for 32nd in the field of 161 golfers after a 75 (+3) in round one before shooting a 77 (+5) in round two. His two day total of 152 (+8) fell two strokes short of the final cut at 150 but capped an impressive campaign for the junior where he led his team by a stroke and a half with an average of 73.89.
